Anne Waldman
Anne Waldman is a legendary poet, performer, activist, and co-founder of the Jack Kerouac School, whose work spans six decades of visionary practice. Her website serves as both a living archive and an active platform, honoring the breadth of her creative, literary, and cultural influence. The design needed to hold that scale with clarity while remaining dynamic, accessible, and alive.
Built with extensive custom CSS, the site includes over 100 dedicated pages and a multimedia archive of 200+ videos—readings, lectures, collaborations, performances, and historic recordings. Each section was built to support discovery, allowing visitors to move fluidly from poetry to performance, from bibliography to activism, and from history to upcoming events. Cross-linked content reveals the depth of Anne’s collaborations and her lifelong work in artistic lineage and literary community.
Visually, the site strikes a balance between structure and movement. A clean typographic system grounds the experience, while curated media and intentional pacing gives the archive dimension without overwhelming the viewer. The result is a site that not only documents Anne’s prolific body of work but also feels like her practice: creatively rigorous, intellectually awake, and vibrationally charged.
