Mary Burger

A custom website for writer and artist Mary Burger designed to support the full range of her interdisciplinary practice across writing, visual art, and publications. The project focused on creating a structure that could hold a large body of material without feeling rigid or overloaded, allowing different forms of work to remain in conversation with one another across the site.

Built in with extensive custom CSS, the website includes responsive layouts, publication organization, portfolio structures, and layered navigation across multiple areas of the site. The design approach prioritizes clarity, pacing, and strong visual composition while still maintaining flexibility for future growth and ongoing additions.

A major goal of the project was creating a website that functions simultaneously as an author platform, visual archive, and evolving record of an active creative life. The result is a highly detailed, image-driven website that foregrounds the work itself while giving the overall experience a distinct visual identity.
